ABOUT

Michael Flanagan is a budding audio engineer, excited to start his professional career in music studios and live venues. He holds an A.S. in Sound Recording Technology from Onondaga Community College and a B.A. in Music Industry with a minor in Audio Arts from SUNY Oneonta. Flanagan participated in sound production at weekly convocation performances while at Onondaga, using a range of condenser and dynamic microphones. He was further inspired to pursue Audio Arts in Oneonta after meeting Dr. Nathan Asman and observing his incredible custom-made instruments. Flanagan has continued to study for several years under Dr. Asman for an Electronic Digital Instrument course of study while at Oneonta. Flanagan works fluently with Pro Tools and Ableton and is extremely passionate about synthesized sound. He is consumed by his Moog Matriarch and is busy exploring modular synthesis with VCV Rack.

During the summer of 2025, Flanagan interned for White Lake Music and Post where he was immersed in the business of music, supporting several talented studio artists and helping host their summer concert series. He developed extensive marketing databases and participated in the creation of community calendars after extensive internet research. He also transcribed and designed historical archives for podcast and video libraries for Voice Coaches and studio artists.

Born in San Diego, California, Flanagan was raised in Syracuse, where he was fortunate to have been a sound technician for many an Irish festival in central and western New York, sparking his love of live sound. Since 2022, he is part of the stage crew in support of his father, Kevin Flanagan, who is a popular local Irish musician for the Syracuse and Buffalo area Irish festival and parade scene. He has run cable and set up microphones and effects equipment across many outdoor stages in this capacity.

Flanagan volunteered with the Landmark Theater in Syracuse to help load in the Broadway in Syracuse production of Mamma Mia! in March 2025. He was able to participate with the sound and lighting crews, thanks to the forward-thinking Technical Manager, Marc Albert. Flanagan is slated to join the Landmark crew again in December 2025.

Flanagan worked for Immaculate Conception Church for two years as a live streamer for weekly masses and special events using OBS Studio. He is also a capable photographer and videographer as well.
